I am so happy for you all! Keshama, now I won't have to worry so much about you. Eric couldn't ask for a nicer father in law and mother in law! Love You!
Congrats you two! Can't wait to meet you Keshama! It's going to be a blast!
I'm so excited for both of you. I know you will be happy with each other and I wish you the best
I can't even begin to say how happy and proud I am of the two of you. I am so excited to have Eric for a son-in-law, because I already love him. Keshama I love you more than words can ever say and I can't wait to share this very special day with you and Eric. I love you with all my heart. Love, Mommy
Love you guys!
Congratulations on your wedsite! We are honored to be a part of your special day. Thank you for choosing wedsite.com to share your wedding plans and experiences with your friends and family.
We have reserved a block at the the above hotel. There are a limited number of rooms in the block (Hart-Horton Wedding), so please book as soon as possible. Also, feel free to stay close to the hotel if you do not want to stay at this specific one - this is where we (Eric and I) and the Wedding party will be staying and also where transportation to the venue will pick up and drop off.
This is a must if you have the time - just ask Eric and Justin (haha to anyone who knows their Whitewater Center story).
This is one of me and Eric's favorite places. There is so much outdoor fun to be had You will need a car to get here or be willing to pay for a Lyft/Uber. There is so much to do here. Obviously, you can whitewater raft, but you can also do the following:
- whitewater kayak
- flatwater kayak,
- stand-up paddle boarding
- rock climbing
- zip lining
- Ropes course
- Canopy tour
Local Tip: If you want to whitewater raft, get there early. When you arrive you actually get put on a list and are given a time slot to raft so the earlier you get there, the earlier you'll be able to raft.
Another favorite of ours: BASEBALL! Our second date was at this Ballpark, so it has a special place in our heart. There is a game Saturday night so if you have the time, it's a great idea. It's also withing walking distance from the hotel (and you'll pass many of local establishments along the way).
Local Tip: Try to sit on the 3rd base line. The view of the city from there is truly amazing and will make for good pictures.
I guess we are just telling you our favorite things to do....
Our suggestion: Start out at Old Mecklenberg Brewery (OMB) for a German themed lunch and some of Charlotte's best local beer (Hornets Nest WHOOP WHOOP!). Next, head over to Queen Park Social to play some games - they have shuffle board, bowling, a basketball hoop among many other things to do. If games aren't your thing, just stop at one of the MANY other breweries on the street. We really can't pick a favorite on this street - THEY ARE ALL OUR FAVORITES!
Local Tip: Lyft/Uber here...please.. Also prepare to have a blast
People may tell you that this is fun "for kids", but I beg to differ. Yes, kids will LOVE this place if you'll be bringing them. However, as an adult, I find it to be just as fun. There are cool science experiments, a small rain forest and a cute little aquarium. Best of all, you can walk here from the hotel as well!
If you've never been to Charlotte and you like to laugh, you need to book a ticket on the Funny Bus ASAP!! We love this bus and have done it a few times. You get a history tour of Charlotte, with some *inappropriate* humor mixed in. You can bring wine and beer on the bus, and you will also stop at a local brewery during the tour, where you can grab a local growler!
Please Note: If you're easily offended, do not take this tour, but I think most of you Upstate New Yorkers and Mountaineers will feel at home on this bus
A Keshama favorite!
This is right by the hotel, so it's something that everyone will likely have time to visit! All of the vendors in here at local and you'll find yourself picking up lots of sweet (and savory) treats!
We are going to Italy!!! Your gift will help us have the best experience possible while we are there and we thank you so much in advance for it. We seriously love you all!
Registry Number is 546992400 or you can search for our names on the website under registry then, "Find a Registry".
Eric and I felt that it was very important to have someone that meant a lot of both of us be the one that married us. Which made it very easy to pick Carolyn. It means the world to us that she said “yes” and we will be forever grateful that one of our best friends will be such a big part of our special day.
Carolyn and I (Keshama) met in 2013 via mutual friends but forged our own friendship with ease. Carolyn has changed my life for the better, including encouraging the adoption of Chewie. She regularly motivates me to be a better person and I am so thankful for her and her friendship.
Carolyn was one of the first people in my life to meet Eric and I was ecstatic that they also clicked. This isn't a shock seeing as they have a very similar personality and sense of humor. When Eric was ready to propose, Carolyn was the only person, outside of family, that he told.
Carolyn loves animals and would chose them over you any day. She is from Rochester, NY, has her JD and has passed the bar in 3 states #danggirl.
Zailee is Keshama's oldest niece. She is an amazing soccer player, run cross country and is currently slaying middle school!
Sailor is Keshama's middle niece. She's the one with the soft heart who loves animals. She is a swimmer, a tennis player and a horseback rider.
Scout is Keshama's youngest niece - she's sassy and HILARIOUS. She plays soccer and basketball and also cheers. You'll find her on the dance floor at the wedding.
Owen is Keshama's Godson and the oldest son of her Matron of Honor, Shanley. He is already so smart and has a heart of gold.
Tucker is the youngest person in the wedding party and will be 13 months, to the day, at the time of the wedding. He is also Keshama's Godson and the youngest son of her Matron of Honor, Shanley.
Brian is my older brother, so I have known him my entire life. That said, we have the typical relationship that probably most brothers have.
We're brothers, you get the point.
Jack and I go back to High School. He is actually the only person in this wedding party that I have not lived with at some point or another.
We used to hang out at his cottage every 4th of July on Cayuga Lake which is always a good time. Who doesn't like beer, cook outs and time spent by the water?!
We always enjoyed hitting the links together, although he is only slightly better than I am, probably 2 stroke lower handicap, if I had to guess.
I first met Justin on a shrimping boat off the coast of the Philippines where we would spend endless hours talking about what we would do when we finally got off the boat and all the dreams we would have when we finally moved back to the US.
Once we moved back to the US, we spent time at the golf course, riding bikes and both share a great affinity for white water rafting. We both had a wonderful experience at the WWC here and encourage all of you to check it out
I first met Timmy when our eyes locked from across the playground in 4th grade. He was a spikey haired, tall, freckle faced boy and I was a short, blonde haired boy with a pretty dope flat top, if I recall correctly. He asked me if I wanted to play kickball, as that was the past time during 4th grade recess and I was happy to oblige.
We sort of parted ways in middle school and became friends again in High School around Junior year.
Tim now lives in Oregon where he spends his days not wearing deodorant and eating twigs, foraged fruit and leaves in the forest by a stream where he set up a makeshift home next to the beaver dam, but he couldn't ask for anything more than what he has now. He is one with his surroundings.
I first met Troy when Justin and I arrived in the US from our fishing boat, as he was a longtime friend of Justin's. We became friends and have lived together in numerous places and both enjoy going to watch Cornell hockey games.
Troy is a bit more of an "outdoorsman" than I, as I am not one at all and he likes to "hunt" and shoot game, albeit small game. The likes of squirrels, woodchucks, small birds and enjoys eating fox meat when he can get his hands on it and is lucky enough to track one down
Troy is also an avid DIY'er/craftsman. He loves to work with his hands and reap the fruits of his labor.
I first met Dylan when I was about 5 yrs old, when I moved into a new neighborhood and I went over to the neighbors house (turns out it was his) and knocked on the door. When his parents answered, I introduced myself and asked if they had any children that could come out and play. Well, it turns out Dylan was that kid.
We have known each other for basically all of our lives, were roommates in multiple houses and even lived through a house fire together, even though he forgot about me, and left me there to save his CD collection that was near and dear to him at the time.
I met Ashley in 1991 at the age of 5/6 when we were made partners to draw each other. Ashley did a pretty stellar job on my #blackgirlbraids and I can only imagine that's what sparked this lifelong friendship. We grew apart in grade school, but once we started cheering together in Middle School, our friendship became rock solid. #IrishRumble
Ashley is the kindest, happiest, most bubbly person that you will ever meet. She's one of the few people that I'll talk to on the phone for hours and during that call we will likely laugh, cry and everything in between.
She went to Ohio University and has her Master’s degree in Anesthesia. She currently lives in Denver, CO and is an Anesthesiologist Assistant.
Fun Fact: She visited every Continent before her 30th birthday. #BossBabe
My friendship with Shanley started how most WVU friendships should start, at Bent Willey's! It was the summer of 2007 and long story short, she called me out for...er...something that shall not be named! Though our friendship started at a bar, it became so much more than that. Shanley and I quickly became best friends and #wifeys. She is my favorite person to dance with and I cherish our friendship more than words can say.
We moved to Texas a few weeks apart from each other in the Summer of 2009, her to Austin and me to Dallas, which allowed us to visit each other a lot after college. I was Shanley's Maid of Honor and I am also the Godmother to her super amazing sons, so we're basically family.
Shanley puts up with no crap, is straight to the point and is hilarious! She also is obsessed with WVU football, and you may not want to be in a room with us if we are watching together. Shanley graduated from WVU and is currently doing the world's hardest job: stay at home mom/superhero/teaching kids to be good people/never sleeping.
Fun Fact: Shanley has a true obsession with Blake Shelton #GwenWho?
This story is complicated, so I won't even try. Long story short, we both had HORRIBLE freshman year roommates back in 2004 at WVU and we knew each other through class and a mutual friend so we moved in together at the end of our first semester. We then (basically) lived together sophomore and junior year. Kristin and I are reallll weirdd when we get together, no one will get our private jokes and you'll look at us like we have 3 heads, and that's okay with us! We often quote Mean Girls – every night when we came home from being out Freshman year we’d put it on and then wake up the next morning to the root menu song on repeat. It was a constant battle of who was going to get up and turn it off.
Kristin is so funny and can make anyone laugh. To know her is to love her. She is so sweet, but can get realllll sassy if need be. She and I have also been each other’s anchor after we lost our dear friend and fellow roommate, Megan Simko. Kristin got married in May of 2018 (#TinderMatch) and I was a BM in her wedding, so I am very excited to have her by my side just a year later!
Kristin received her Doctorate in Audiology and is an Audiologist in York, PA.
Fun Fact: When watching football once, Kristin asked me how they moved the yellow line so quickly on the field.....she also suggested that we drive to Hawaii via the bridge from CA......so...there's that.... #BookSmart
I met Jennie at WVU when she joined Sigma Kappa in 2006 and most people will hear me refer to her as "My GrandLittle". We immediately bonded over our love for Cheerleading and dance. I wanted her to be in my "Family" and because I had control over who went to who, I stole her. At first, she was pretty bummed, but now realizes this was one of the best things to ever happen to her. :)
Jennie is my rock and I can tell her any and everything without fear of judgement. We joke that we share the same soul because every day we realize just how much alike we are. Jennie is a classy bia, but can quickly become "Jennie from the Block" if you cross her the wrong way, which is why I love her.
Jennie also graduated from WVU's MSIR program and works for GE in HR. She is the mother of beautiful Kennedy (my little grand little) and is married to an Army Ranger (Thanks for your service, Scott!).
Fun Fact: Jennie can still do a full toe touch jump. #StillGotIt
Kara (aka Bae aka Partner in Crime) and I were forced into friendship back in 2013 when our mutual friend gave me tickets to a country concert on the condition that I went with Kara. We then bonded over our love for country music, beer and pizza. From there, we were pretty much inseparable. It got to the point where random people in Charlotte would make comments about us always being together and we're pretty sure that people thought we were in a committed relationship for a hot second.
It's often just the two of us and we've done it all, including dressing up as bananas and doing the banana bar crawl (twice!). Kara has no filter and constant RBF, but she's everyone's favorite person because of it. If she were a Barbie, she'd come with a case of BudLight, a country and rap mix tape and a ripped AC/DC shirt.
Kara went to App State #theOTHERMountaineers where she got her Master’s in public administration and currently works in HR for CLT Water #thebestwater.
Fun Fact: Kara and I got stuck in the Dominican Republic for an extra 3 days (1 week total) during Hurricane Maria, but we were "hurricanes" in CLT, long before that
Fun Fact #2: Kara hated me when she met me :)
The story of me and Amber isn't "internet appropriate", but we met through a mutual friend at a party in 2011 when she saw my Sigma Kappa sweatshirt. It turns out, Amber was a Sigma Kappa at another college. Cue: FRIENDSHIPPPPPP!!!!!!!! Amber and I went on many of Uptown CLT adventures back in our heyday. We also used to build forts in her apartment and watch Disney Movies - which I miss a ton!
Amber is my sister, or at least it feels like it. We are no stranger to fights, but that's because we love each other like we love our siblings. Amber has a big heart, but is also known for her sarcastic one-liners, which is why I love her and need her to move back to Charlotte ASAP.
Amber graduated from ETSU and lives in the Baltimore area doing medical sales. She's too smart for her own good and can make almost anyone look dumb in an argument (so watch yourself).
Fun Fact: Amber thinks she's black - once at the beach a guy said something to me and Amber's response was 'Did he just say that b/c we're black?" FYI - Amber is white.....
I met Gina back in 2010 when I first moved to Charlotte. We worked at the same company and it's no secret that Gina was not too fond if me when we first met (a running theme of my BMs I guess? ha!). But that very quickly changed. We realized that we had the same sense of humor, shared a love for college football and a mutual hatred for our job. Gina invited me to a Clemson weekend (that was a blast) and we also signed up to run our first half-marathon together in 2012. It got to the point where Gina's husband said "Keshama: Gina's sister from another Mama!", which perfectly describes our relationship.
Gina is super chill, but knows how to have more fun than....well, anyone. She graduated from Clemson (70-33 #neverforget) and currently works in HR in Charlotte. She has two amazing kids that make my heart smile - she's not a regular mom, she's a cool mom. She's also a lunatic because she enjoys running 50Ks up huge mountains.
Fun Fact: Gina is the 5th of 6 kids. She has 2 sisters and 3 brothers... God bless your mom's patience, Gina!
I met Carly in the Fall of 2005 when get pledged Sigma Kappa together #FallOmicrons. We pretty much immediately bonded, over what, I don't even know. We just "click" and it's super easy. We went on a few very memorable (also unmemorable) Spring Breaks together, but most importantly, we shared a 10X12 foot room in the Sorority house my Sr yr (her Jr year) of college and it only brought us closer together. Our nights in often involved singing "Alive with the Glory of Love" by Say Anything into hair brushes while dancing on top of our beds.
Carly is my fashionable friend, which makes sense seeing that she majored in Fashion Merchandising. To say that she is witty and comical doesn't do her justice, let's just say, you'll enjoy her presence. She also had a heart of gold. She currently lives in New York City and will be getting married just 4 short weeks after us; I am so lucky that she has asked me to stand by her side when she does! CONGRATS GIRL!
Fun Fact: Carly has gotten to walk in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade and hold the balloons! #socool!
Eric found this place (he's a gem), b/c it's about a mile from his work. As soon as I walked in, I started crying - I knew this was where I wanted to marry my best friend. The overarching theme is "Elegant rustic" which is exactly what we are looking for.
To request a song at the reception, follow this link:
We know that we'll never get a chance to have all of our friends in one place ever again, so we want the night to last as long as it can. After the reception, we will meet uptown close to the hotel at a bar TBD for even more fun!
As most of you know, Eric and I are a product of a dating App named Bumble (whatt!?!?!). For those of you who are not familiar with dating apps, let me explain.
Both people will register an account on the application via their mobile device and then pictures of others who have also registered will come up. You swipe left to say "no" and right to say "yes". If you say yes to each other, it's a match and you can start talking. In June of 2016 Eric and I matched. On Bumble, the girl has to talk first, so I said, 'two truths and a lie...GO!". Eric responded with, what I now know are two lies and a truth because he didn't read the question correctly. He said that he has a child, had a brother and had been divorced. I left the conversation thinking that Eric had a brother and a child.
Eric asked me on a date and I ALMOST canceled it to hang out with my girlfriends. Thank God that I didn't because I left that date and told my roommate at the time "I think that I just met my husband". She laughed and called me crazy, but HA, I was right!
A few months later he came to Morgantown for a WVU football game with me, where he met my parents. Not long after that, I went to his cousin's wedding in Nashville and met his ENTIRE family. And from there, we just got closer and closer.
Eric is my best friend. He supports me, but also lets me know when I am in the wrong. I love his constant encouragement and that he also puts up with workaholic tendencies. He makes me laugh every single day and I love the happiness that he brings to my soul. Eric reminds me to be more carefree and I remind him to always look on the bright side. It’s cliché, but we really do bring out the best in each other.
I can’t wait to see what “forever” brings us!
If you know both of us, you will know that I am the quieter, more reserved one of the relationship. If you don't know that, you can probably figure that out once you have read the "wedding album". I tend to be the one that says little and gets right to the point. You will soon find this out when reading about the groomsmen and the description that will follow this short intro. Keshama is a bit more of a talker than I am.
I was born in upstate NY, where I lived for 28 years. Eventually I moved to NC in 2008. Once I arrived, I went back to school and completed my culinary degree (probably the only reason she is with me to this day), with the hope of opening a restaurant. I currently have nothing to do with the restaurant industry, other than eating out on occasion. I now work for an online retail company and have done so for the last 10 years now.
Most people who know me will agree that I have a big personality. In fact, recently, one of my Bridesmaids had this to say about me:
"You'll never meet a more energetic, enthusiastic optimistic person than Keshama." _ Carly Mento
This is a very accurate statement about me and my personality. I am a perpetual optimist.
I was born in Alabama, but eventually ended up in Wild and Wonderful, West Virginia (Rand, WV to be exact). I started cheering and dancing when I was about 4 years old and continued both of those until I graduated from High School. I also ran track (100,200, sprint relays) and threw the shot put as a field event.
As most people know, I went to West Virginia University, where I developed, what some would call, an unhealthy relationship with the University. While at WVU, I received my Bachelors degree in Psychology and Business and stayed at WVU to receive my Masters Degree in Industrial Relations (Human Resources). I was also a tour guide at WVU for perspective students and was an active member to many student Organizations (Sigma Kappa Sorority and Dance Marathon).
After college, I moved to Dallas, Texas where I made it pretty much 1 year to the day. I moved to Charlotte, NC in 2010 and have loved every second of being here. I currently work at Ally Bank and also coach a Special Olympics Bocce Ball team!
My mom is my best friend, I adopted a dog (Chewie aka Chewbacca) in 2014, I love Star Wars (a lot a lot) and I will dance ANYWHERE!
